I love this! I definitely need a survival kit. I can't tell you how many times I've said, "I know i should have this in my car but...." Can't wait to see what everybody bought. ah, the suspense!

Good advice! I completely agree, do what makes you most confortable. If your uncomfortable it then passes onto everyone else in the room including the CD. I have never heard of a CD hiring someone b/c they are memorized but if it makes you more comfortable then memorize but yes I agree prolly still hold your sides:) I think CD's can tell whn you have at least become familiar w/ the material. Great Vlog:) Keep em comin. sorry I totally just pretty much reiterated everything you already said LOL.

@Debbie: I sort of touched on this in my vlog, and perhaps I will write an additional post to talk about it further...

That question is a hard one on which to give a standard answer. It all depends on the relationship that the CD has with the agent or manager. Those who had a great, professional relationship with the CD were more likely to have their call taken.

Sometimes I would let the CD know that Y agent was on the phone wanting feedback about X actor. She would look at her sheet, remember the session and tell me a few things to tell the agent. Mostly things like: "lovely actor, too old" or "great job, we don't know which way we are going with that role right now."

One thing that I heard in the office is that "a callback is your feedback." Often as actors we want feedback as a form of validation, and the CD looks at feedback as an assessment of whether or not you're meeting her casting needs. If you're what she need, she'll call you back. If you're not, it's not personal.

Thanks for the comments and best of luck to you and your daughter.

@Debbie: If you are mailing in a headshot and resume to an episodic casting office and it's not for a specific role, I would say yes - it is not the most effective use of time and money.

However, if you know the casting director and you are not submitting on a role, but just want to update a picture - great. Write that on the envelope as well. The more information that the person who is opening the mail has, the less likely it is to get thrown away.

But blind mailed submissions to CDs you don't know - not very effective.

OK. This makes sense to me. I'd like to know how you feel about agents and managers calling the casting people to get feedback after their clients audition. Do they find that annoying, or is it expected? Do they ever just tell them something to get them off their back?

So, are you saying send a headshot to a casting office only if it is for a specific role that you know is casting? Otherwise sending headshots to casting offices are a waste of time/money? I am always wondering about this.
